For the longest time I looked for God
In the scriptures
And quiet of the holy Temple;
And for me He/She was never there.
Later I took long walks in the woods
And listened for His/Her Voice
Amidst the rustling of the trees.
All those times, I never heard Him Sing.
Then as the years passed
I glimpsed God for an instant,
As my wife caressed
Our baby girl’s hand.
Now, the house is empty
And my heart is very still;
And God constantly speaks to me.
For I have given up the search;
And He has come looking for me,
And is the only One there.
